LISTEN TO BOAT!
Southbound xo have quickly become the most exciting new band in Australian country music.
The all-female act, featuring Missy Lancaster, Andrea Krakovska and Sarah Bernardo are making a major impression with their catchy, upbeat mainstream take on country music, which compliments their electrifying live show.
Southbound xo have already scored two #1 singles on the official Australia Country Radio Airplay charts with ‘This Is Us’ (3 weeks) and ‘Find Our Way,’ have an AIR chart all-genre #1 single with ‘Find Our Way’ and have already achieved over 10 million audio streams while performing at major events such as CMC Rocks QLD, Groundwater Country Music Festival, Savannah In The Round and the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
In late 2022, the girls featured in their first international collaboration, ‘Buy You A Drink’ with US artist Austin Burke and Canadian country star Tim Hicks.
The party continues with the first Southbound xo first release of 2023, ‘Boat’ via Red Dog Recordings / Believe.
‘Boat’ was written by Southbound xo band members Missy Lancaster and Sarah Bernardo along with hit songwriters Phil Barton and Brian White during a recent Nashville song writing trip.
“I’d been joking around with Sarah during our US writing trip and saying that I really wanted to write a fun song about a boat,” says Missy Lancaster.
“And then at this particular session, we said to co-writer Brian White, ‘do you know anyone in Nashville that has a boat?’ He simply replied with ‘well, everybody knows somebody with a boat.’ From there the song was born!”
“We all love a good boat party and we hope this track brings everyone as many fun vibes as it did for us when we created it!” says Sarah Bernardo.
‘Boat’ is impressively produced by up-and-coming Sydney producer JARNE and was mixed in Nashville by David “Messy” Mescon, who also produced the fan favourite Southbound xo track, ‘Drink.’
Southbound xo will support this release with upcoming performances at festivals such as the Gympie Music Muster, NQ’s Rockin’ Country as well as Sydney’s Illuminate Festival, in the coming months.
They also recently headlined their first international festival, the Top Paddock Country Music Festival in New Zealand, in May.
